VAT is run by SARS. KyDec prints the tax invoice, keeps standard, zero-rated and exempt lines apart, and adds up the VAT for each period. VAT numbers (10 digits, starting with 4) sit on every client and vendor; amounts print in your number format.
Most goods and services. The proposed rises to 15.5% and 16% were withdrawn.
Taxable at 0% — shown separately in your tax summary.
Marked exempt, kept out of output VAT.
Value of the supply, including VAT.
Taxable supplies in any 12 months.
Every KyDec template carries all five.
The words “Tax Invoice”.
Your name, address and VAT registration number.
A serial number and the date of issue.
Over R5 000: the recipient’s name, address and VAT number (if registered).
Description, quantity, value of supply, VAT charged and total — or “VAT at 15% included”.
No mandate is in force. SARS has proposed standardised e-invoices validated by accredited service providers, with the data used to pre-fill VAT returns. The timeline is a proposal and may change.
No mandate. PDF and other electronic tax invoices are fine when they carry the section 20 details.
Public comment closes on the SARS VAT modernisation proposal.
Preparation and piloting.
Expected start, phased over about 36 months: large-taxpayer B2B first, then B2G, smaller businesses and B2C.
Today KyDec keeps your tax invoices in the required shape and totals the VAT on your sales and purchases. You (or your accountant) prepare and submit the VAT201 on SARS eFiling or the SARS MobiApp.
A document in KyDec is not a form that gets copied into other systems later. Saving it is what updates your books, your stock and your VAT figures, at the same moment.

No. KyDec totals your output VAT, input VAT and what’s payable. You or your accountant submit the VAT201 on SARS eFiling.
Not today. SARS has proposed it with near real-time reporting, expected from about 2030. It’s a proposal, not law, and dates may change.
Registration is compulsory over R2.3 million and voluntary from R120 000 — a call for you and your accountant. KyDec works with VAT off until you register.
Yes: the number format is set per business. Dates print as Oct 13, 2026 for now.
